Passenger compartment fuse block
The facelifted 2005 Altima keeps the block exactly where the earlier cars had it, at the bottom of the dash on the driver's side behind a cover that pulls straight off, but the car around it changed: new front and rear styling, a revised cabin and the arrival of the SE-R with the 260 hp VQ35DE. The factory navigation system that appears in this book takes fuse 17, a cell the 2004 plate left empty.
Positions are numbered across the block, not down it. Counting from the left of the upper line: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, then the puller notch, then 8, 9, 10, 11 and a spare pocket. The lower line repeats the pattern with 12 to 18, the lone 19 under the notch, then 20, 21, 22 and two more spare pockets. This edition also crosses out position 15, which the 2002 and 2003 books rated at 15 A for the heated oxygen sensors.

Engine compartment IPDM E/R
On the facelifted car the module has not moved: it is the pale box on the left of the engine bay, between the washer filler neck and the battery, and its cover releases with one clip. The 2005 SE-R uses the same module as the 2.5 S, and both follow the fuse map Nissan introduced for 2004, so the numbering here is the later of the two the L31 used.
Read the cell grid as two columns of eleven. Working down the inboard column you meet 41, 40, 39, 38, 37 and 36, then an empty cell, then 35, 34, 33 and 32 at the foot. The outboard column begins one step lower with 50 and runs 49, 48, 47, 46, 45, 44, 43, 42, with nothing in its top or bottom cell. The relays on either side - ECM, headlamp high and low, starter, the three cooling fan relays, throttle control motor, fuel pump and front fog - are integral to the module and are not separately replaceable.

Engine compartment fuse and fusible link box
On the facelifted car this holder keeps its place over the battery tray and the layout is still moulded into the inside face of its lid. Two things change with the 2005 book: position 24 is crossed out, the immobiliser feed it used to carry having gone elsewhere, and the pair of ABS links returns to 30 A after a single model year at 40 A.
Take the plate with the car's nose to your left. The top line is the numbered group 24 to 27 and then, to its right, the tall 50 A link f with the 30 A pair g and h and the empty socket i. The bottom line carries the empty j, the 40 A links k and l, the taller 40 A link m, and finally the numbered group 28 to 31. None of the lettered links is numbered anywhere on the car, so each is drawn here with its letter and rating beneath it.
