Passenger compartment fuse block
Kneel in the driver's footwell and you will find a rectangular cover clipped over the lower edge of the dashboard; lift it away and the block is there with the fuse puller stowed in its middle. The 2003 Altima carries the same electrical content as the first-year car - Nissan re-issued both books in May 2004 and their power-supply pages are identical page for page - so a fuse that suits a 2002 block suits this one.
Numbering starts at the top left of the block as it faces you and works along each line rather than down each column. Seven positions fill the top left group, a gap follows for the puller, then four more and a spare socket. The bottom line carries seven, then the single position 19 beneath the puller gap, then three more and two spare sockets. The cells Nissan crosses out on the plate - 2 to 4, 16, 18 and the last two of the bottom line - exist in the moulding but carry no circuit.

Engine compartment IPDM E/R
The module sits forward of the battery on the driver's side of the engine compartment, a cream box with a lid that comes away once you press its tab. It is worth saying plainly that the 2003 and 2002 books print the same module: Nissan re-issued both in May 2004 and the power-supply pages match exactly, so a 2003 Altima still has twenty fuses here, numbered 32 to 51.
Twenty mini fuses lie flat in two stacked columns. Counting downwards, the inner column reads 42, 41, 40, 39, 38, 37, 36, 35, 34, 33, 32; the outer column beside it reads 51, 50, 49, 48, 47, 46, 45, 44, 43 and then stops, leaving the last two rows single. Position 43 is a numbered socket with nothing behind it. The ignition, fuel pump and A/C relays sit below the fuse field and the three cooling fan relays are the tall housings in the middle of the module.

Engine compartment fuse and fusible link box
Look on top of the battery tray, between the battery and the front bumper beam: a low black holder with a single release tab carries the high-current links for the whole car alongside eight ordinary blade fuses. The 2003 service manual reproduces the same E6 plate as the first-year book, crossed cells and all, so nothing in this holder changed over the winter.
The plate is read with the front of the car to the left. Four numbered cells across the top left are 24, 25, 26 and 27; four more at the bottom right are 28, 29, 30 and 31. The tall cartridge links stand between them - f on its own, then g and h side by side with i beyond them on the top line, and j, k, l with the taller m on the bottom line. Positions 27 and 30, and links i and j, are sockets Nissan leaves empty.
