2000 BMW 5 Series E39 Fuse Box Diagram

The main fuse box of a model-year 2000 5 Series (built September 1999 to August 2000, the last pre-facelift year) is behind the glove compartment lid. Open the glove box, turn the two white quick-release fasteners at the top of the opening to the left and let the fuse panel swing down. A plastic fuse puller and the allocation card (edition 8 377 849 on the cars of this year) are clipped to it.

All 45 fuses stand in one long row, numbered 1 to 45 from left to right as seen from the passenger seat, with each number moulded into the lip under its fuse. This diagram is the left end of that row, positions 1 to 15; the two horizontal pockets above positions 8 to 12 hold spare fuses. Position 8 carries the ASC fuse on this card edition.

Positions 16 to 30 are the middle third of the single fuse row on the panel that folds down out of the glove compartment (turn the two white fasteners to the left). On a 2000 car this stretch still follows the pre-facelift card: 22 is the second stage of the auxiliary fan, 23 the heater and independent heater, and 26 and 28 are not assigned.

The numbering continues left to right, 16 at the left edge of this diagram and 30 at its right, numbers moulded below the fuses. Two spare-fuse pockets sit above positions 27 to 30; the fuse puller clips to the panel near the middle of the row.

The right end of the glove-compartment fuse row, positions 31 to 45, on a pre-facelift model-year 2000 car. The whole panel drops down once the two white quick-release fasteners inside the glove box are turned to the left; the allocation card clipped to it rates 32 at 15 A (seat heating) and leaves 33, 35 and 36 empty.
