2008 Ford Escape II Fuse Box Diagram

On the 2008 Escape, the first year of the facelifted compact SUV, the interior fuse panel is mounted low on the right-hand side of the centre console, just under the instrument panel on the front passenger's side. Unclip the console side trim, then press the tabs at the top and bottom of the fuse cover and lift it away. Ford's plate shows the panel as you face it from the passenger footwell: sixteen mini fuses stand in a row along the bottom edge (1 at the left, 16 at the right); 17-19 and 29-31 make two short rows on the left; 20-26 and 32-38 form two rows right of the large relay 48 (delayed accessory); 41 and 42 stand at the top with 43-46 lying flat beside them; 39-40 stand at the right edge above 28 and 27. Position 47 is a 30 A circuit breaker that, in 2008 only, protects the moon roof as well as the power windows. The 2.3 L four-cylinder, the 3.0 L V6 and the Escape Hybrid all use this panel; fuse 1 powers the Hybrid's 110 V inverter.

The power distribution box of the 2008 Escape (2.3 L four-cylinder and 3.0 L V6) sits on the driver's side of the engine compartment against the inner fender, beside the battery. Disconnect the battery before touching a high-current fuse and refit the cover before reconnecting it. Across the top left, three terminal tabs carry the bolt-down MIDI fuses A (80 A, electric power steering) and B (125 A, feed to the passenger compartment fuse panel). Cartridge fuses fill the left half (2-4, 9-12, 15-19), mini fuses lie flat down the left edge (5-8, 13, 14) and stand on end in two columns between the relay banks (22-29). This year the fuel pump runs from cartridge 4 through relay 31B, and fuse 7 feeds the reversing lamps. Relays: 20 A/C clutch, 21A rear defroster, 21C blower, 21D PCM, 30A-30D cooling fans and starter (30B), 31A reversing lamps, 31C-31E trailer tow. 33 and 34 are the PCM and start diodes; 21B, 31F, 32, 36 and 37 are empty.

On the 2008 Escape Hybrid (2.3 L Atkinson-cycle engine) the power distribution box is the same housing as the gasoline model's, on the driver's side of the engine bay next to the low-voltage (12 V) battery; disconnect that battery first and close the cover before reconnecting it. The plate is identical, the assignment is not: cartridge 15 (50 A) feeds the traction battery control module, cartridge 11 the PCM through the power sustain relay 30B, cartridge 4 the fuel injectors through relay 31B, and fuse 14 the heater and coolant pumps (relays 31C and 31D). MIDI fuses A (80 A, power steering) and B (125 A, interior fuse panel) sit under the terminal tabs top left. Other relays: 20 A/C clutch, 21A rear defroster, 21C blower, 21D PCM, 30A/30C/30D cooling fans, 31A reversing lamps. 32 and 33 hold the A/C clutch and PCM diodes; 21B, 31E, 31F, 34, 36 and 37 are empty.
