Left side of dash panel - carrier A (black)

Sixteen positions in two families: a column of twelve MINI fuses numbered downwards from 1, and the four ATO fuses 13 to 16 in the dashed strip beside it, 13 alongside 1 to 3 and 16 alongside 10 to 12.

They belong to the black carrier A, the left-hand member of the trio behind the end-face cover of the dash panel on the driver's side. In North America a 2017 Q5 is still this car, the 8R — the second-generation FY arrived as a 2018 model there — and its manual reprints plate B8F-0296 unchanged.

Left side of dash panel - carrier B (brown)

Twelve ATO positions in a single column, read from 1 at the top down to 12 at the bottom.

This is carrier B, the brown one in the middle of the group of three behind the cover on the driver's-side end face of the dash panel; A is to its left, C to its right, and the fuse puller lives in the cover. The 2017 manual prints the same functions on it as the 2015 and 2016 books — that year's two wording revisions are elsewhere, on the red carrier C and in the luggage compartment.

Left side of dash panel - carrier C (red)

Twelve sockets in one column, 1 uppermost, of which the top two are never populated; the ten below them take ATO fuses.

Carrier C is the red one, furthest from the door of the three carriers behind the end-face cover on the driver's side. Its position 9 carries one of the two wording changes the 2017 manual makes: the panorama sunroof is simply called the panorama roof, the same 20 A circuit as before.

Right side of dash panel - carrier A (black)

Numbering runs upwards here: 1 is the bottom socket of the column and 12 the top, as plate B8F-0297 draws it.

The column is carrier A, the black one on the left of the pair behind the passenger's-side end-face cover of the dash panel. Four positions are in use — steering column switch module, diagnostic connector, gateway and auxiliary heater — and the other eight are empty on every version of the facelifted 8R, which in North America includes the 2017 cars.

Right side of dash panel - carrier B (brown)

Twelve ATO fuses in one column, counted from the bottom up, all of them in use.

This is the brown carrier B on the right-hand side of the recess behind the passenger's end-face cover, the relay housing sitting to its right. Its circuits — cluster, ignition lock, steering column lock, light switch, climate control and blower, MMI and the terminal 30 diagnostic feed — are printed unchanged in the 2017 edition, the last US manual to describe the 8R.

Luggage compartment - carrier B (black)

Twelve ATO positions on the black carrier B, numbered from the bottom of the column upward.

Look for it under the fuse cover behind the right-hand luggage-compartment trim, at the left of the group, with the brown carrier C beside it and the black carrier E further right past the blank space the pre-facelift carrier D occupied. The 2017 owner's manual prints the same plate, B8F-0336, as the two editions before it.

Luggage compartment - carrier C (brown)

One column of twelve ATO positions, numbered upwards from the bottom socket.

This is the brown carrier C in the luggage compartment, reached from the right-hand side of the boot: take the fuse cover off the side trim and it is the second carrier from the left. Its assignment is unchanged from the 2015 and 2016 editions; the wording revisions in the 2017 book affect carrier E here and the red carrier on the driver's side of the dash panel.

Luggage compartment - carrier E (black)

Twelve ATO sockets counted upward from the bottom, two of them — 9 and 10 — never populated.

Carrier E is the black one on the right of the luggage-compartment group, a step lower than the two carriers to its left, all of them under the fuse cover behind the right-hand side trim. Its first position is where the 2017 edition changes its wording: the front passenger's seat heating becomes seat heating and ventilation, a 15 A circuit either way.
