You reach these fuses from the driver's seat: at the end of the dash panel, level with your left knee on a left-hand-drive car, a cover folds down and the whole holder is behind it. On right-hand-drive cars the same holder is reached through the glove box. The 11.2015 handbook brought the printed rating table back after three editions without one, and it is the first to list the taxi preparation feed on position 4 and the Drive Profile selector on 13.

Think of the plate as bands under the three relays across the top. First 4 to 10 (short) with 11 to 14 (tall) to their right. Then 15 to 21 with the flat 22. Then the cartridge 23, the band 24 to 28, the stacked flat pair 29 and 30, and the cartridge 31 at the right. Then 32 to 37 with 38 to 42, where 40 hangs below the line of its neighbours. Then the cartridge 43, 44, the oversized 45 and 46 to 48. Finally 49 to 53 across the bottom right, 53 on the separate right-hand lobe above the two rear relays. Numbers rise from left to right in every band.

The holder is the electronics box on the left of the engine bay; its cover comes off after pressing the locking tabs and should be pushed back down until they click when you refit it. The 11.2015 handbook, the first 5F edition in three years to print ratings again, adds two entries to this box: the second ABS feed on 1 and, on the Cupra, the electronic front differential lock on 31.

Three columns of flat blade fuses dominate the plate and each is numbered from the bottom upwards, which means that reading downwards you pass 10, 9, 8 and so on to 3 on the left, 38 down to 31 in the centre and 21 down to 15 on the right. Around them: cartridges 1 and 2 at the lower left, 11 and 12 in the middle of the box, 14 at the lower right and 24 at the top; the flat 13 between 14 and the large relay; 23 over 22 in the upper right. Ten relay housings and a row of six bolt-down terminals complete the box.
