Engine compartment fuse and relay box

Driver's side of the engine bay, immediately inboard of the battery: a black box whose lid unclips at the sides and carries the circuit map on its underside. A 2003 car photographed with its lid off still shows the 91213-26001 edition of that label, the one with a 120 A generator link, which is the edition drawn here; the 3.5-litre V6 that arrived this year shares the box unchanged.

Orientation follows the label. Along the top, from left to right: the ten mini fuses in two columns, the column of four cartridge links, the air-con diode with a blank socket under it, and the right-hand group where the alternator link sits over the B+/ABS.2 and IGN/ABS.1 pairs and the BLR link. The lower two thirds of the housing are relays: fog lamp, air-con and fuel pump across the first row (one socket is blank), radiator fan, starter, condenser fan 1 and horn across the second, wiper, condenser fan 2 and burglar alarm across the third with the fuel pump check connector at the end, and the big engine control relay on its own at the right. Numbers 1-21 are ours (the order of the owner's-manual table), because the label names the positions instead of numbering them.

Inner panel fuse box

Low on the driver's side of the dashboard, next to the left kick panel: pull the lid off the fuse box and the cover label lists the circuits. For 2003 the range gained the 3.5-litre V6 with electronic traction control (ETS), which is what the 15 A fuse F29 (fail-safety relay and ETS module) protects on that engine; the panel itself is the one fitted since 2001.

The five columns of mini fuses are numbered from F1 at the bottom of the right-hand column, upward and then column by column towards the left: F1-F7 (with an empty socket capping the column), F8-F12, F13-F17, F18-F25 and F26-F31. A relay occupies the top of the left column and the harness connector the top centre; the four larger spare fuses on the edge of the housing are not part of the numbering.
