Lower dashboard fusebox
Two fuseboxes share the space behind the dashboard cover; the lower one, described here, is the built-in systems interface and holds most of the car's cabin circuits. On a left-hand-drive car the cover is in the lower dashboard below the steering wheel and unclips from the top left corner and then the right. On a right-hand-drive car the box is behind the protection cover in the glove box instead. The extraction tweezers travel on the back of the cover.
Reading the plate from the right: a column of nine horizontal MINI fuses numbered upwards, F1 at the bottom, F9 at the top. Then two more columns of nine, also counting upwards — F12 to F20, then F21 to F29. Then, standing on end, two rows of four whose numbers increase to the left: F30A, F30B, F31 and F32 in the lower row, F33, F34, F35 and F36 in the upper. F10 and F11 break the pattern twice over: they are standard blades rather than MINI, and they stand on end beside F1 and F2 with F11 to the left of F10.

Upper dashboard fusebox
Behind the dashboard cover, above the built-in systems interface: a plate with a connector block at one end and twelve upright standard blades filling the rest of it.
Count from the right. The rightmost fuse is F29, and the numbers increase towards the left until F40 at the far end next to the connector block. Of the twelve, five have circuits behind them — F30, F31, F33, F34 and F35 — and seven are spare. On left-hand-drive cars the cover comes off the lower dashboard below the steering wheel, pulled first at the top left and then at the right; on right-hand-drive cars the box is behind the protection cover in the glove box.

Engine compartment fusebox
Under a clip-on cover next to the battery, the engine-compartment unit carries the car's high-current circuits: MAXI blades, standard blades, MINI fuses, one JCase cartridge and three bolt-down strip fuses.
The MAXI column sits left of centre and runs F2, F3, F4, F5, F6 and F7 from top to bottom; a seventh MAXI, F1, is on its own at the upper right between two relay housings. The standard-blade column is immediately right of the MAXI column and runs F21 to F27 downwards. Under it, F14 is above F15, F11, F12 and F13 are stacked to their right, and F20 stands on end. F19 is above F18 at the top left, with the bolt-down F32 to their right, F28 on end below it, then F17 and the cartridge F29 on end below that. F8 is above F9 at the far right, with F10 to the left of F9; F30 and F31, both bolt-down, stand on end at the lower right; F16 stands on end at the bottom. The relay housings are drawn blank. Close the cover carefully after working in the box so it stays sealed. Positions 15 and 22 carry 5 A and 30 A fuses that this model does not use.
