Dashboard fuse box
Low in the dashboard on the left-hand side; on right-hand-drive cars the same box is behind the glove box lid. Its cover unclips under a pull on the side of it, and the fuse tweezer and the spare fuses are clipped to the back of the cover once it is off.
The fuses sit along the lower edge of the built-in systems interface, in a single row of fourteen MINI blades. Read from the left, the handbook's order is F1, F13, F12, F6, F5, F9, F3, F4, F11, F8, F10, F7, F14 and F15. Below the middle of that row is the PARC shunt, marked SH, which is a transport jumper rather than a fuse; below its right-hand end is the 40 A MAXI fuse F17. Positions F2 and F16 appear in the handbook table as not used and have no socket moulded on the plate, so neither is drawn. The handbook editions covering cars built from September 2009 give F1 as a 15 A rear wiper fuse.

Engine compartment fuse box
Next to the battery, on the left-hand side of the engine compartment. The cover unclips; clip it back down carefully afterwards, because the seal is what keeps water out of the relay unit.
The handbook draws the box from above with its three large connectors along the top. Seven MINI fuses form the upper row, F20, F19, F21, F15, F16, F18 and F17 from the left, with the plate printing their labels alternately above and below the row. The 30 A MAXI F10 stands upright below F20 and the 40 A MAXI F11 lies flat at the bottom left. A round connector interrupts the middle. Five more MINI fuses form the lower row, F1, F3, F2, F4 and F8 from the left. To the right of the round connector lies the 40 A MAXI F13, then a two-by-two block of MINI fuses with F9 and F5 above F7 and F6, and at the right-hand edge the 30 A MAXI fuses F14 above F12. The eight maxi-fuses MF1 to MF8 sit on a separate holder that the handbook reserves for the dealer network.
